Tonight your Adams Area volunteers attended training on the administration of some very important life-saving medication administration.
Our QRS members completed required training conducted by Alan Martino from UPMC Passavant to receive our Medical Command authorization to administer Albuterol in respiratory emergencies as well as Epinephrine in any cases of anaphylactic shock under the new PA DOH Protocols for syringe based EPINEPHrine Administration. UPMC Passavant has provided us with two Anaphalaxis Kits, which we will be carrying on our front-line QRS response vehicles along with the Albuterol and Ipratropium Bromide (Duoneb) for respiratory emergencies. We will be receiving more of these kits in the near future to have available on our responding Chief's vehicles as well as Rescue 42 so access to these medications will be on scene quickly when our neighbors may need it.
We are very proud of our volunteers for their continued commitment to obtain this training and the thousands of hours in other fire, rescue, and EMS training every year to provide for the safety and well-being of our neighbors.
The Adams Area Fire District would also like to thank Alan Martino and Dr. Alan Shapiro from UPMC for their amazing support as we continue to try to provide the best care we can for our communities and neighbors. |
