As we “Spring Forward” tonight and unfortunately loose an hour of sleep, it’s a great time to Check and Change the batteries in your Smoke Detectors. As you change your clocks tomorrow morning, take a few minutes to replace those batteries!
Some newer detectors have integrated lifetime batteries that cannot be changed, it is still a good idea to give that test button a push to verify it is in working condition!
While you’re at it, check the manufacturing date on the back! Smoke and CO detectors are only good for a period of 10 years. After that, they should be replaced. The newer detectors with the integrated batteries will likely start “chirping” near that 10 year mark, signaling that the unit needs to be replaced.
If you have any questions or concerns with your Smoke and CO Detectors, or any fire safety related items, you may send us a message or give us a call and one of our members will be happy to answer your questions! |
